I write to you today 33 pages into Jim Kwik's new book Limitless. It's focus is the human brain and its capacity to evolve and grow in response to the challenges and environments introduced to it! What's incredible is that this capacity is infinite or as Jim says, "Limitless!" For instance, one study Jim mentions found that London's taxi cab drivers possessed greater grey matter in the hippocampus than non-drivers due to their job requiring the memorization of thousands of streets, paths, and tourist attractions!

In Jim's own words, "Neuroplasticity, also referred to as brain plasticity, means that every time you learn something new, your brain makes a new synaptic connection. And each time this happens, your brain physically changes, it upgrades its hardware to reflect a new level of the mind." Did you know the previous prevailing thought was that our brains stopped growing at a certain age? Science for the win! With newfound understanding of your brain's unlimited abilities, I know you're ready to exercise those mind muscles! Here's a short list to get you started:

Read for 30 minutes!

Write a poem, letter, or story!

Memorize a new friend or co-workers name, street, recipe, or your favorite song!

Use intuition rather than GPS to find your way!

Learn 3 facts about a subject that interests you then share those with a friend, loved one, or the world!

Also, feel free to adapt the LPP principle for motivation! Learning = Power = Profit

How will you upgrade today? Let me know in the comments!

Hey Big Dawgies!

I know it's been awhile and I've fallen off the wagon on the series. Life has taken on a new rhythm lately as I adjust into a new role so things I once planned shifted however the tide seems favorable. It's more involved than my previous experiences and it's taken strategy and adaptability. Also I've become a morning person and 5:15 comes around early my friends but I've found it sets a positive pace for the rest of the day. Random interjection: make your bed every day. If you haven't heard that yet, you will. Anyways, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the most recent book I finished which is Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist.

Paulo's message is clear and the book read quickly and well. I enjoyed the pace of the story and the subtle, simple, and powerful messages within. A few passages stood out to me as I read, one such being "men began to reject simple things, and to write tracts, interpretations, and philosophical studies. They also began to feel that they knew a better way than others had. Yet the Emerald Tablet is still alive today." I liked the Alchemist's words to boy as its reminiscent of how sometimes the simple method, however simple it may appear, may be the most effective and efficient manner of proceeding or understanding.

Another passage that I read multiple times was the Alchemist stating "Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity." I mean, how true, straightforward, and encouraging! Although different, fear and comfort tend to occupy the same space. So what sense does it make to wallow in your fear and perceived suffering instead of embracing the actuality of the situation to discover the truth? Maybe you'll suffer and if you do, at least it's real! I encounter this often as my mind is my own worst enemy, tending to try to wrap me in fake fears and possible outcomes that don't exist my daily reality. Yet I realize it's a control mechanism for the ego, it wants to remain control and fear is the only way it knows how. But fear not, I shall. Whew, that got a little strange and personal. Forgive me as we move onward!

The last passage I want to share states "When you possess great treasures within you, and try to tell others of them, seldom are you believed." I liked it because it's saying who cares what other people think, you're living your life independently of them living theirs. Do you star-child, shine forth thy divinity!

Overall, I loved it! The Alchemist was a fantastic read and the message I took away was to enjoy the journey of life and dance in its music. Realize your treasure is always right in front of you (or in other words, where you make it). Please feel free to respond with your thoughts about The Alchemist if you've read it yourself or if you want to add to or challenge my statements. I'd love to hear your perspective. Thank you for reading Big Dawgs. You slay like Bobby Flay.

Hey Dawgies!

I know it's been some time since I've last written and for that I can only apologize. However I haven't gone away and still tend to this page as a smith tends to his forge! I've just been occupied lately not only with music but also another opportunity I've fallen into and am loving so far. More details to come. For now I'd like to share that I'm well and loving life and that I hope you all are well and loving life too. Summer's almost passed but we've still got August, we don't have to start singing Wake Me Up When September Ends yet! On to the point, (and I know I've broken the schedule) here's the latest topic for the weekly series:

"What event from your youth still teaches you lessons today? How do you apply what you learned?"

Several events from my youth still teach me today but I'll just detail one. Moving to Texas at 16 proved a significant event that impacted me subtly in ways I've realized over time and although one of the hardest experiences my younger-self endured it also stood as one of the most empowering. I love my friends and leaving them sucked, let's be real about that. However, it taught me about adaptability and to roll with the tide; I learned to trust myself in engaging others. Moving also displayed distance's weakness against fellowship, time's inability to tear bonds, and loneliness's lack of lasting power. As I move forward in life, I've learned to love new people in the way I loved my first friends, allowing me to hold on to the old and apply those behaviors to new groups I encountered. Now some may say I don't visit as often as I should, I may even strike others as distant or detached, and I may let more time slip by than I should in between conversations. Yet silence does not soften my bonds. My heart never forgets and I am unyieldingly loyal to friendship. If you're a friend of mine I hope you know you can reach out to me anytime and I'll be there. I'm blessed to call my friends companions and you all are still teaching me how to love unconditionally.

As cheesy as it sounds, it's reminiscent of the lesson found within the new Power Rangers movie. You may recall they can't morph until after they realize Billy (the Blue Ranger) is more important to them than their individual motivations and they're willing to sacrifice themselves so Billy could return. The scene literally brought tears to my eyes because to me, that's life's purpose and hardest challenge. American culture tends to a drive an ego-centric experience (in my opinion) yet you'll find studies suggesting altruism makes people the happiest and my own experiences confirm the same. Though the example references morphing to give the power rangers super-human power, the metaphor clearly implies that selfless love takes one beyond the basic human condition to a state of immeasurable strength (i.e. Love: putting the life of another ahead of your own = the ultimate, unconquerable, indomitable force). Yet as the movie suggests, letting go of the ego is tough and fighting it is how I continue to apply my youth's teachings. So here's to my friends, I love you and you've taught me to love without fear, you've shown me how to form solidarity, and you enable me to morph into a better human being.

Hey Big Dawgies!

Today's post is a random blog that I wrote because my friends and I are putting together a site we can all blog on to stay connected and freshen up our writing skills. Since I shared it there, I figured it'd only be fair to share here too! The new site is dirtydawgies.wordpress.com and my post reads:

------------------------------------------------------

It’s established, my friends! I’ve built it, now you must come! Hot Josh will understand. ;) But for reals! Anything you guys want to write about or discuss is fair game. I’ve sent the credentials and if you would like them to be able to post content just hit T-Dirty up! I’ve picked a topic for our first post and that is:

Why do we write?

My response is as follows:

We write to understand, to express, to create, to share, to feel, to reach, and to explore ourselves. Holy lots of verbs! However writing is a multi-faceted task with many purposes and the answer really depends on individual objectives. I love writing because it’s an alternative medium of communication that I feel I fare better at than speaking. It’s fun for me to make a point and share my thoughts. Crafting a clever argument also brings me joy because I’ve created a stance and perspective and that yields critical thinking.

I correlate writing to consistent evolution and growth for there are always new words to learn, styles to adapt to, formats to play with; opportunity abounds from the page and the keyboard. Yet it’s also immortalizing. Who knows what the future will hold for the words we put out there? The youth finding inspiration or relation to our blogs in countries we’ve never been, grandchildren stumbling upon our journals after we’ve passed, future archaeologists excavating files from our computers; our words let us live on Dawgies. So why do I write? It makes me feel alive.

-T-Dirty On The Beat

Your turn Big Dawg! Thanks for reading.

-----------------------------------------

As always, thank you for reading and I hope you all had an excellent weekend. Here's to a great start to next week! Love you all!

Good Morning Dawgies!

I hope everyone is faring well! I'm back to the series this week (the finishing of Duckin' Around and accompanying video last week took a bit of time so that's why I skipped it but I hope you've enjoyed the song and the video! If you haven't heard Duckin' Around it's available on my music page to listen to and download from all major platforms! Alright, on with the series!

Today's topic: "What are your thoughts on the zombie-craze? Is it hurting society or is it all in good fun?"

As far as my individual tastes go I'm not an avid follower of the zombie phenomenon but I do appreciate the many directions it's branched into! As a concept, it's captivating because it captures an instinctive human (if we consider the Undead still resemblant of humanity) lacking the capacity for conscious-thinking, what an interesting condition to explore! Alternative states of consciousness and unconsciousness open discussion to how conscious-thinking impacts human life and our ability to differentiate between right and wrong, good and evil, just and corrupt; in this respect, I find the zombie-craze beneficial.

The Walking Dead is one of the most popular examples lately and provides an atmosphere where half of the remaining humans support one another while others prey on their peers to satiate their group's individual needs, so not only do we observe the lack of conscience in the zombies but also witness its variation in human behavior and that critical thinking (to tie back to the original question) helps society in my opinion. Yet it's all up to the creators' imaginations when generating their zombie-realities and presenting Undead behavior. The notion of feeding on each other could be correlated to the aforementioned internal discord and related to the question of whether or not humans (unconsciously) are inherently predisposed to one nature over the other. Yet I digress and this varies again on the creator's ideas and how they bring the Undead to life.

In brief, I think the zombie-craze is an excellent creative outlet and fosters critical thinking regarding the human condition thus bringing fun and benefit to society! Let the Undead live on!

Good Afternoon Dawgies!

I'm writing today to first say hello and that I hope the week's been a success for everyone so far. My heart is happy and that energy is yours to share if you need it! Furthermore, I'd like to share I've finished mixing a couple songs and progress is coming along well. I've also recently engaged in a relationship with Dallas Trackhouse and they're dope! It's a new studio out of Arlington (right by Six Flags) and I'll be helping lead their street team as we visit local shows and bring special discounts and offers for their recording services. Check out their site and keep up on mine for more details about the shows and offers! Now, on to the series!

Today's topic is "What makes you feel Invincible?"

(Invincible: too powerful to be defeated or overcome.)

That's an easy one for me to answer. It's happened a few times in my life where I've recognized the feeling and felt so at peace and ready to do anything, and that's when I'm out for the day or on a trip with my best friends or family. I feel invincible surrounded by people I love and know that no matter where we were at or want to go in life; with them by my side we'd be successful. It's the support that I know and feel as I sit amongst them and the calm I get from laughing and experiencing joy amongst them without fear of judgment or suppression of my true self. It's the sharing of our dreams and ideals and building those together as a team no matter how wild it gets! I mean for example, one friend of mine lives in Australia and we were out once when our waitress started talking to us about work visas and how easy it is to get them, and we all looked with each other and said "Let's do it!" and I knew then as I know now that if we truly wanted to go for it we'd pack up our things and move together at the drop of a dime. It's a firm underpinning of our relationship and resonates the motto Dawgies Supporting Dawgies. It's also how we push each other to be the best versions of ourselves, to live without fear, and to sometimes just go for it!

Friends and family make up the true wealth of the world because they make up our experience, they help us feel what we can't on our own, and they encourage us to let our light and love shine without reservation. So to end this post, I'd like to say thank you and express my deep gratitude toward my friends and family. You've made my life an absolute joy and it's your kinship, not my resolve, which makes me invincible.

Good Afternoon Dawgies!

I'm writing today to first keep y'all updated on the music! I'm putting together two albums now I'll release this summer. One is a collection of my earliest songs from a couple years ago (now refined, mixed, and mastered) and the other is my latest music. I'm doing all the mixing and mastering myself so that's why I've set "summer" as the release timeframe. More details will follow on that but I'm happy to be bringing a lot of music soon!

Now on the second part of my post, and that's the series I'd like to start. I have a book titled 500 Writing Prompts and will be selecting one at random per week (or perhaps daily) to write about here. Not only will this keep things fresh and dirtalicious but also give you a deeper insight to my personality. Please let me know your thoughts and feel free to respond to my views! Thanks!

Topic for today: "How do you feel about superstitions? Do you have any?"

Great question! A superstition is defined by Google as "excessively credulous belief in and reverence for supernatural beings," or "a widely held but unjustified belief in supernatural causation leading to certain consequences of an action or event, or a practice based on such a belief." I don't know if feel is the best verb but I do have superstitions so I suppose I feel strongly! I believe in ghosts, hauntings, legends, and vampires (oh how I'd love to be one!) among other things. I believe because the Universe and Goddess (My God is a She) create so many miracles that we can observe in nature and who am I to question her power to forge events, beings, and dimensions outside view of the current scientific scope? Just because we can't see a thing doesn't necessarily mean it does not exist and that brings the Law of Attraction to mind. When it comes to superstitions, is it not the energy our minds attach to the superstition that manifests them as realities? According to the law, we attract what we envision in our mind to be true thus our beliefs shape the reality we experience. In theory, superstitious power is real because of the power of our belief. So to answer the first question I feel superstitions are just another way to interact with our world.

Now, do I have any superstitions? Of course! I only pick up pennies if they're heads up! I also let the bugs and animals I come into contact with live for karmic reasons (and that means I believe in karma too!) Also, the Loch Ness Monster lives in my book and it'd be incredible to date a mermaid. On the subject of legendary creatures, I'd like to share a bit about how a superstition of mine developed on the night I saw a Chubacabra.

On one of the all-night study sessions I performed in college, I hit a great spot for a break and decided to step outside. At 3 AM it is very dark in Dubuque, IA and because I left a bright kitchen naturally my eyes had to adjust before I could see in the darkness. As soon as I stepped out I caught sight of a figure unnaturally creeping through our backyard (we had a staircase that led up to our back door so I was elevated above it). Seeing the figure shot a bolt of fear through me and I froze. I watched for a second before it turned toward me. As my focus began to clear I could make out long, bony arms as it rose up but could not see the face, my eyes hadn't fully adjusted to the dark. The shadowy silhouette started stalking toward the stairs but I bolted inside and locked both backdoors as my heart raced. I sat in silence waiting for raps at the windows or door but no such noise came. Needless to say, though I didn't plan on sleeping that night I wouldn't have been able to if I tried. Although I could not clearly see the figure, to this day I believe in my heart a Chubacabra is on the loose in Dubuque, IA and continues to stroll during the dead of night. Be warned Dawgies!

So are superstitions real? To me they are. I feel superstitions impact our world if our minds let them and let me know what you think about mine! Thanks for reading Big Dawgs! Please share your thoughts on the new series too!

Good Afternoon Dawgies!

I'll write a quick post today to let you know my family's in town this week! My Grandparents and Great Aunt are visiting and I'm thankful for the time we get together and grateful they took the time to make the trip! I just wanted to take this moment to share my beliefs on the importance of family and the role they play in our live. Families hold our oldest friends and deepest relationships but furthermore family extends beyond blood relations too (in my opinion). So if you're up for it take some time today and reach out to a family member you haven't talked to in a bit, it'll be worth your while and likely make their day! Also, don't ever forget we're all family here too Big Dawgs! Here's to you, here's to your family, and here's to our Dawgie family as well! Thank you for reading and as always stay positive and powerful Dawgie-fam!

Hey Dawgies!

Today my post will be an assignment I wrote for my application to freelancewriting.com. Unfortunately I did not get accepted into their platform but I wanted to share my writing here anyways. Please let me know your thoughts and thank you. I love you all. The assignment was to write a maximum of 350 words to the prompt, "Is Writing a Business Plan Still Worth it?" What follows is my article:

Budding entrepreneurs often find themselves facing the question, "is writing a business plan still worth it?" Though business plans are often speculated, let's look at the process objectively. The first step of writing a plan is putting it on paper which not only provides a tangible medium to track your thoughts and monitor progress (which you can revisit later for motivation), but also establishes an outline and forces entrepreneurs to consider multiple angles before bringing their product or service to the market. Points on the paper provide a projection (as well as the opportunity for variability in making those projections) for the business owner while also proving free from distractions when called upon in the future. Logically a written plan proves a more organized mechanism when compared to keeping ideas and progress entirely in one's mind as a business' beginnings often involve dynamic changes and rapid adaptation. For example, a ship captain keeps a map and a compass to make sure he/she stays on course when the waters shift, as without one it's easy to get lost in the current. As an entrepreneur, would you want to resemble the Captain or a drifter in the water? Even if only for organization purposes, a business plan lets one start with a clear direction.

Now I know the landscape is always changing and there are risks we can't foresee, so why waste the time to write a plan with today's accelerated advances? Well, let's look at who's going to join along for the journey? Will you have investors? They're going to want to know where the business desires to be and is headed before supporting it. No one's going to get on a sailboat without sails but your plan shows off your sails! A plan doesn't have to be a long, drawn-out, stocked-full of-spreadsheets composition, but it does have to depict your direction to investors as they may be with you for several years. Furthermore, planning equips you with a realistic assessment of your voyage thus writing a plan becomes worth it both to you and those traveling with you. Be the Captain.

Happy Wednesday Dawgies!

I hope the week's fared well thus far and is taking you great places! I'm writing today to update you on my life and let you know I've been up a quite a bit. I applied to a few freelance writing gigs and am considering taking a course on Music Licensing. I've also been playing quite a bit of Magic: The Gathering and finally organized all my cards and am now going about constructing a Zombie-Deck! Furthermore, last weekend my best friend Geno graduated from UNT after a long and dedicated journey (and 5 weeks in Costa Rica!) The celebration also reminded me how Wine is a cunning foe and brings you to the peak of elation only to leave you writhing in pain! Also, for Mother's Day I equipped my Mother with flowers and a double feature of Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL so we could do a Magic Marathon (she loves Joe Manganiello). It's been quite the craze of activity around here and that is the reason for the delay in the blog posts.

Moving on, my main reason for writing today is because of a post my friend Geno put on Instagram. He's going to be a Math Teacher and is now facing that "Well, what do I do now?" moment we all experience after graduating and starting fresh in a new direction. He's phrased it as "unemployed, broke, and in debt" but is still excited about his next venture forward and I wanted to take a moment to focus on how thoughts impact our daily lives. You may have heard this before in some iteration or another however I wanted to highlight on Qui-Gon Jinn's saying, "Your focus determines your reality." Our thoughts run in our mind all day long and determine what we attract, feel, and experience throughout our life. It's a law of positive and negative expectations and how the two impact our energy, the energy around you, and our responses to that energy. Often it's hard to be in Geno's situation where we're feeling directionless and fearful, however that's where it's most important to have relentless positive expectations. If we allow our minds to dwell in negative places, our mind is consistently told we are in a negative place and thus reinforces that in our reality. However even if we are in a negative dip at this stage in life, if we consistently create a positive scenario in our mind it constantly pushes us toward that favorable reality.

We can think of the mind like a Ship Captain,(Captain Jack Sparrow if you're a Pirates fan because the new one comes out soon). It will guide us and navigate the waves we encounter, but do you know what additional amazing role we play? We, our thoughts, are the boundless sea. Our thoughts are infinite, deep, and can be full of treasures and conversely monsters. The critical component we must remember is to think "consciously" because when not surrounded by calm waters and halcyon days it's easy to lose focus and let our thoughts spiral into storms (storms of our own making that happen when we relinquish our control). Once the storm is raging and the wind and spray are in our faces it is difficult to see through to the sunshine and frankly easy to submit to the circumstances, but again that is where it is most critical to stay on sight toward the positive path so the captain can carry us forward! It's easy to be a victim and direct blame outward, but now that we know our thoughts make up the waves we also realize that we choose to surrender our sway and leave the Captain posited on Destination Disorder. Or we can claim our Poseidon-like power and consciously create the conditions we want in our mind thus giving the Captain a clear path to Incredible Island!

Thank you Dawgies for reading today. Stay positive, stay powerful, and think consciously. I'll meet you on the Island. ;)

Good Morning Dawgies!

Today I wanted to write about the concept of expectation and what I've been battling in my mind. Despite learning, researching, and building every day I struggle with putting pressure on myself to produce income. Though I've built up financial reserves and by no means in danger or struggling, I consistently find myself worrying (without reason) or thinking about taking the next offer I see rather than directing my attention to the excitement of building my own business and learning what it takes to make it work. It's the classic easy way out or I should do what the majority is doing versus dealing with the discomfort of the development phase and I've mentioned this in a previous post, but my main point today is that no one and no external circumstance is putting pressure on me. In fact, what I'm learning is that my mind and ego is the only thing causing fear, anxiety, and worry and the only source of true pressure for my current situation. I'm learning to confront thoughts and think consciously at every moment to dispel the doubt. In the wise words of Yoda, "Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."So my reminder for today is remember to focus on the positive, to trust in the Force and Spirit to guide you and have your back as you move forward to your next endeavor(s).

We're not here to struggle or to settle for anything less than our dreams, by living our dreams and truths we can inspire others to do the same regardless of how long it takes us or the trials we face on the way there. On that same subject, failure is another fear generator however is a valiant and whole-hearted attempt that fails truly a failure? I say no, because the attempt itself yields learning and can only strengthen an individual. Our worth is with our life, our bodies, our minds, and our spirit. If we're still drawing breath, we can do anything Dawgies. Here's to believing in ourselves, being confident in our self-wealth, and living with #NoStandards.

Hello Dawgies, just stopping by with another daily delivery. Today I wanted to touch on the notion of financial freedom, debt-free living, and the power both give you. I recently spoke with a prospective employer about opportunities they had reached out to me about (he was a fantastic gentleman and I'm very thankful for his time.) Again, I've got nothing against employers or companies. Though the reason I'm writing about it today was because it was the first interview I had that rather than go into the conversation desperately seeking to prove myself a qualified candidate for the job, I had the freedom to say "Thank you, but that doesn't sound like what I'm looking for." And wow is it liberating to the mind! It feels good to have the power of choice and to take time to seek out a good fit.

All through my upbringing, including schooling and lessons from peers and parents and other adults the standard phrase or expectation was "go to school and then get a job." Like a job (when I say job I mean working for someone else) is required for survival, as if it was an absolute necessity to survive and thrive. But that's only one perspective, that's a linear progression that keeps you stuck in that track (and keeps your choices somewhat limited) until you choose to divert from the road. And off-loading is awesome! Plus we live in a world of multiple perspectives! Limitless potential is around us. The internet can connect me and a team in Shanghai in minutes, or Russians, or Brazilians! And we'd be face to face! That, my friends, is the Spanky Dank.

Earlier this week I had spoken about it feeling weird and hard to accept, but each day it's getting easier and more opportunities to make money keep appearing. The best part: No Employer Required! Now I may just be catching on to this phenomenon and I know I'm over-simplifying my approach, but I'm glad I caught on now cause it's compounding my confidence and opening my mind to possibilities I had not known existed. I just read Taylor Pearson's The End of Jobs, if you haven't read it and are currently seeking a change I definitely recommend the read. It shifted the standard societal paradigm in my mind and also comes with great resources and templates for making the leap!

Thanks for reading Dawgies. As always, I love you all. Stay positive and stay powerful. Remember, the world has limitless potential. You can make money any way from anywhere, all it takes is serving a need and providing value. #NoStandards

Good Morning and May the Force Be With You Dawgies!

Here's to all my Sith Lords in the House! You know I love those Dark Vibes and Darth Vader's my hero, also the red lightsabers are just so awesome it fills the heart with joy. I love every time I watch the movies and just in case anyone's free today TBS is having a May the Fourth be with you marathon playing all the movies today. I'm sure there are other networks doing the same as well (Spike might be but I'm not sure). In the spirit of May 4th, I just wanted to take a moment to express that trusting in the Force is like having Faith. Life as we know is a random event and despite our desperate struggles to exercise control we're really here just to enjoy the twists and turns the journey holds, at least that's my belief. The tighter I hold on to control the harder I find it to breathe and if you've read my previous posts you'll recall the recent shift in my life's structure has caused some anxiety for me.

Yet I'm continuing onward, excited and eager for the days ahead and I'm putting full faith in the force (Darkness aside- the true nature of the Force is balance my friends.) It's like Yin & Yang and we must trust in the balance without fear for what lies ahead. There may be shifts to endure and waves to ride, but we can do so with hope and gratitude for the journey and the opportunities to expand.

Anyways, just a short note for y'all today! May the force be with you and remember #NoStandards! Have no fear in the pursuits of your passion! Trust in the Force! (And here's a little extra funny for all the LOTR fans out there)!

Good Evening Dirty Dawgies,

Just writing again with thoughts today for introspective purposes as putting them on here allows sorting outside of my head. I'm still growing like a lobster as I've shed the safety of my former shell. It's an uncomfortable yet exhilarating process. It's interesting to confront culture's impact on my mind and as the days go by I realize the effects it's had on how I would typically be expected to act. Statements like: GET A JOB! WHY AREN'T YOU WORKING? cross my mind, but the one I'm asking myself the most is "Why do I feel like that?" What or who taught me that going to work at a company was the only way to survive? Why is there a massive fear and stigma of losing jobs? Tyler Durden would say You are not your job. So why can't I take time to learn how to market myself and the service I can offer? To market my music to those who would find value in it? To other musicians who would want to collaborate, to build our dreams and businesses together? Other people make a living with music and again the opportunities are varied and plentiful, so what's stopping me? And the answer I come to is Me. My thoughts. My previous beliefs and operating procedures. But letting go of my old self is like I said, a strange and scary development phase. I'm a lobster lacking a shell. Now I'm not being lazy. I'm researching and learning every minute now. It's time to learn, network, market, and grow! Be the Lobster! #NoStandards!

Thanks for listening Dawgies. Love you all!

Good Afternoon Dawgies!

I'm writing today as an introspective letter to myself but wanted to post it here as well. I've recently left a job to pursue my passions because I'm debt-free and now in a position to give it a shot. As you all know, I love to make music and write about it though not much of it is posted here (due to my perfectionism and hesitancy to release it without a copyright on it. I'm working on that psychological aspect of myself. Just know there's more on the way. Many tracks in the final mixing/mastering stage currently). I'm in a strange spot now that I've got complete freedom and it's curious how the pressures of my previous employment traditions are weighing upon my mind. It's as if I feel guilty for not going into work daily or utilizing my time on a externally determined and mechanical basis (although structure is something I see as beneficial to self-employment too). Just to give further context, right after I left my previous position I went to California (LA to be exact) to interview for a teaching role and I'm still awaiting results for that (fingers crossed). Teaching and working with kids is another passion of mine (I coached Gymnastics for about 5 years) and being in LA puts me in the center of a music city (in case you were wondering why the switch from Texas to California). Also, my older sister lives there!

Going on, I returned home this previous Sunday and in performing research and organizing my thoughts as well as analyzing prospective next steps and researching licensing opportunities rather than productive I feel idle, and I partly believe it's due to not being on a paid-per-hour time-clock based schedule. However, there's nothing inherently wrong with what I'm doing currently or taking time off of an employer's clock to pursue alternative perspectives and possibilities, yet my cultural upbringing and "gotta-go-to-work" American-societal ideal is resistant in leaving while fading with pangs of guilt now that I'm confronting employment from an unexpected angle (not going into a job I'm just in to generate income and instead focusing on how to turn my passion into making my living). I'm confident about my next steps and what I'm learning, but becoming comfortable with this in-between/developmental stage is the reason for my writing today. I know I can do it as there are thousands of individuals who employ themselves and generate incomes in a multiplicity of ways. However the adaptation phase I'm currently experiencing is affecting me in a manner I've not experienced before. Please if anyone's experienced similar feelings or encountered this state of emotion at a previous point in your life, let me know through comments or E-mail what helped you through it and kept you focused and confident in your self versus giving in and going back to an employer (I'm not fearful I'll go back to working just for a paycheck but it comes across the mind in this new circumstance!).

Also, please don't think I have something against working for an employer or a company, there are many great opportunities for individuals within small and large organizations. I believe in working for others to acquire skills and grow as an individual; what I don't believe in is giving your time to something you're not excited to bring your best to every day (meaning the work done is for the quality of the job as well as the service and value provided because it comes from the heart, instead of working solely for the compensation just to "get by" or "pay the bills" or because "that's what everybody else does"). Basically, follow your heart is what I say and if someone like me can get out of the debt game and be free, you can too! Remember #NoStandards is living outside of cultural expectations and pressures, it's about pursuing what starts our fires and inspires us to live despite the naysayers and traditionalists. Like DJ Khaled says, "We the Best" and it truly is a team-effort of Dirty Dawgies making this world a better place for every person we come into contact with by living our truth and helping them live their truths too! People helping people, that is humanity my friends and we're all a part of it. So Power to the People!

Again, I wrote this today as an introspective post but I'm an open-individual and my story is yours to share in as well. If you're into the Tarot, I pulled the reversed Tower and it could not be more appropriate. Thanks for reading Dawgies. Stay positive and stay powerful. #NoStandards #PowerToThePeople

Good Evening Dawgies!

I know it's been awhile since I've last posted but I thought I'd write today to apologize. I've been busy working on finding my direction in life now that I'm debt free. I literally have the ultimate freedom and can go anywhere, do anything I want. It's been a learning process to be in this position and I'm still taking it all in because before I had one-goal and I laser-focused until completing it. Now that I can begin the pursuit of happiness, I'm still adjusting to walking the first steps. I know I promised more music and it's still on the way, it's just I've been working to get out of my head. Hold tight Dawgs! I love you all and appreciate your time and support. Thank you for being excellent individuals. Stay awesome and remember #NoStandards!

Good Evening Dawgies! And Happy Birthday to Mike Breezy Meersman! You Sir are the Dawg of all Dawgies.

Just writing today to check in and wish everyone a happy holiday season! I've been working Overtime at my corporate job and it's held up the release of my next song called Be Like Chance. But it's also helped me stack up the mula and get closer and closer to the dream baby! We're so close I can taste it. Back to the song, it's just about ready but there's a few tweaks I want to make to the master and it'll be live in time for you to jam at your New Years' Eve Bash! So stay tuned and know that I'm wishing the best holiday for you and your families. I'm grateful to y'all and looking back on this year with pride and joy and I hope it's the same for you. Every day is a chance to smile more, laugh more, and love more. So stay merry dawgies! Dirty Claus is coming to town. ;)

Good Afternoon and Happy Saturday!

Just checking in to share a couple things; the first and most important being a big Thank You to everyone visiting this page and in my life. I love all of you and am grateful to know you. Second, that more music is on the way! I've been generating new ideas and working on finishing up songs every day. It's been a busy November (I visited New Orleans to experience the French Quarter's Magic, checked out property in Quartz Mountain, OK, and had an Iowa love visit who I showed Fort Worth's charm) but things are relaxing now and granting more time for music so expect gifts of sounds as we move through the Holiday Season...Dirty Claus is comin' to town ;)

Thank you again for your support and for stopping by. If you'd like to communicate just check out the contact me page and I'll be in touch promptly. Y'all are the best and remember to stay positive, be thankful, and as always #NoStandards!
